Waterside seal – Safety and efficiency in levee construction – Oder levee reinforcement, Germany
The flood defences in the Neuzeller Niederung showed considerable stability problems during the Oder floods at the turn of the millennium. Only intensive levee defence measures were able to avert the danger of a levee breach and flooding of the hinterland.
Bentofix® X – Lining of a balancing pond – HS2 Attenuation Pond – UK
In Warwickshire, just north of Long Itchington Wood, the preparatory operations for this project include the development of a main compound area with office space and welfare facilities, plus storage areas for materials and equipment, and the tunnel being constructed at Long Itchington will enable HS2 trains to pass directly beneath one of the county’s largest areas of ancient woodland. The area is protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, and measures to avoid loss of the woodland were developed in consultation with Natural England.
Embankment stability works for reservoir renovation project – Grassholme Reservoir
This project shows how the reservoir's future resilience to high water levels can be ensured.

Secugrid®, Combigrid® – Haul Road & Compounds for Onshore Wind Farm – UK
A new 15-turbine onshore wind farm is under construction in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Located between Dalmellington and Carsphairn, it’s estimated that the 67MW Benbrack Wind Farm will provide sufficient electricity to power 70,000 homes when full commercial operation is achieved in the summer of 2024.
Secutex® Soft Rock – Coastal defence and flood protection, Scharbeutz, Germany
The approx. 5.4 km long coastal strip of the city of Scharbeutz, which is frequently used by tourists is characterised by a wide sandy beach with a beach wall and a promenade, road and buildings behind it. This stretch of coast is largely unprotected from storm surges from the northeast. The coastal defences needed to be improved to protect the residents in this area. The state of Schleswig-Holstein subsidised this construction project.
Combigrid® – Construction of access road across a flood zone – Redlands Farm Solar Park, Somerset, UK
The project design incorporates solar panels sited on tall posts to ensure the site maintains normal levels of operation – even in times of flooding. Essential to the project was the construction of almost 1,000 metres of unbound access roads.
Combigrid® – Temporary Haul Road – Dogger Bank, UK
Facilitating the onshore activities for this project would require the construction of over 17 miles of temporary haul roads across the Yorkshire countryside and, although temporary, construction of the roadways was required to be nothing less than substantial.
Secutex® Green – Temporary use of a biodegradable separation and filter nonwoven
The Wilhelm-Wisser-Schule (WWS) in Eutin, Germany, is bursting at the seams. For this reason, the school is planned to be expanded into a three and a half form entry school for around 550 pupils over the next few years. However, lessons will continue. As an alternative location, an interim school for the WWS will be set up on the fairground for around two years ....
Secutex® Soft Rock – Seabed Scour Remediation – Port of Southampton – UK
At ABP Port of Southampton’s City Cruise Terminal, Naue geotextile sand containers have been installed to remediate scour holes in the harbour bottom and prevent further scour. Southampton is the cruise capital of the UK, with over 430 cruise calls departing from the port each year. The port is one of the busiest deep-water ports in the UK and can accommodate any size of cruise ship. The port is also home to the UK’s second largest container terminal.
Bentofix® – Base Lining System in a Pond – Artificial Pond at Xiamen University, Sepang
To recreate a similar environment to the main Siming campus, an 8-acre lake will be constructed at the new campus in Sepang, Malaysia. Combined with the climate situation in Malaysia, it will be challenging to have an artificial lake with a permanent waterhead throughout the year. A solution for a pond lining system is required to contain the water inside the artificial lake and prevent water infiltration into the subsoil.
Bentofix® X, Secutex® – Base Lining System in a Dam – Mamak & Pernek Dam
The tropical nation of Indonesia receives over 600mm of rainfall in its mountain regions per year, resulting in an infrastructure of over 200 dams currently in operation (Ministry of Public Housing and Public Works / PUPR Indonesia, 2022). More than 70 of those are located in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, giving the highest concentration of dams in the nation. Dam construction peaked in the ‘90s and ‘00s, meaning today, the operation has been running for 20 to 30 years.
