Geogrid reinforces steep slopes with wrap-around facing

The Secugrid® m3 Wrap system utilises high-strength geogrid reinforcement with wrap-around facings to construct reinforced soil structures with inclinations up to 90°. This method employs temporary formworks and Secumat® erosion control mats or Secutex® nonwoven geotextiles to protect against soil erosion. The system is adaptable to various project requirements and geometries, allowing for economical and aesthetic solutions that support vegetation on slopes up to 70°. The use of site soils, including cohesive types, enhances project economy and environmental sustainability. The Secugrid® m3 Wrap system is ideal for applications such as reinforced vegetated slopes, retaining walls, and embankments, providing long-term stability and performance in civil engineering projects.

Naue Wrap the system for reinforced slopes and reinforced walls

The Naue Wrap Secugrid® geogrid system for reinforced soil structures like reinforced slopes and reinforced walls utilises Secugrid® in wrapped, reinforcement envelopes at slope fronts. Temporary formworks, such as wood piles, are used in the site preparation and construction process. Mechanical protection of the high load-bearing capacity of Naue’s Secugrid® reinforcement technology is secured by the installation of Secumat® erosion control mats or Secutex® nonwoven geotextiles. These measures protect against erosion of the soil.

Naue Wrap is highly adaptable to project-specific requirements and geometries, which leads to an economical, aesthetic solution capable of supporting vegetation. Slope surfaces at angles up to 70° can be vegetated. Additional UV protection can be provided through the installation of facing stones or other adequate materials.

Solutions with Secugrid® m3 Wrap

  • Reinforced Vegetated slopes between 45° and 70°

  • Retaining walls up to 90°, in combination with a panel facing

Selected advantages of Secugrid® m3 Wrap

  • Permanent stability even on slopes up to 90°

  • One source/system for all reinforcement needs

  • Natural, green-faced constructions

  • Conserves construction resources and costs, as site formworks can be reused

  • Simple construction

  • High load capacity

  • Site soils (including cohesive soils) can be used, which optimises project economy since more-affordable cohesive soils can be used rather than disposed of or replaced with non-cohesive soils

  • Secugrid® geogrids can be used with soils stabilised with cement or lime

  • Variable spacers allow site-specific slope face adjustment

  • Ecological benefits associated with the use of local soils include decreased transportation pollution and cost and conservation of natural resources

System components

  • Secugrid® geogrid for primary reinforcement

  • For taller constructions, Secugrid® geogrid for secondary reinforcement between layers

  • Temporary formworks

  • Secumat® erosion control mat or Secutex® nonwoven geotextiles

  • Fasteners

  • Hydroseeding
