Bentofix® X seals and beautifies

The historic moat in Delitzsch had been losing water for decades and threatened to become swampy. Since the moat was to be replanted with reeds after the renovation, which is known for its overgrown roots, a multi-barrier seal was needed. The planners chose Bentofix® X – a PE-coated bentonite mat, also known also known as geosynthetic clay barriers (GBR-C). This bentonite mat is the sealing element. It consists of sodium bentonite powder that is encapsulated by two layers of geotextiles. The additional polyethylene coating protects the bentonite powder from rooting and drying out. Approx. 14,000 m² of Bentofix® X were laid for the renovation and sealing of the moat.
