Secumat® Green is a biobased, extruded three-dimensional erosion control mat - a random-laid 3D mesh - for temporary slope, facing and bank protection. You install it directly on the prepared soil surface and cover it with soil. The three-dimensional structure acts as an artificial root zone: it holds the soil stable, dissipates rainfall energy and supports vegetation while plants establish.

Bare slopes and facings erode quickly under rainfall before vegetation establishes. Fine particles wash away and seeding fails. Secumat® Green provides immediate three-dimensional surface cover that stabilises the soil and supports root development until the vegetation takes over the protective function - with no removal or disposal handling.

Secumat® Green requires no dismantling, no removal and no disposal handling at end of service life. This eliminates a significant cost item compared with synthetic erosion mats that must be removed. Its long service life - over 72 months, up to 10 years for facing systems - suits sites where vegetation needs several seasons to establish.

Secumat® Green 60G5 has a mass per unit area of 600 g/m² (EN ISO 9864) and a thickness of 12 mm (EN ISO 9863-1), with a filament diameter below 1.1 mm. It is manufactured under DIN 18200 factory production control and meets ISO 9001:2015. Suitable for slopes up to approx. 40° and facing systems up to 90°. Cover with soil within two weeks of installation to protect the filaments from UV before vegetation develops. Fix with Secumat® Green Pin W 30 (sustainably sourced hardwood).

Secumat® Green is used in facing systems. Laid at the front, it provides rain protection and eases vegetation so the facing integrates visually into the landscape. It suits facings up to 90° or stepped facings that need temporary erosion protection to ensure stability during low-vegetation phases, or where vegetation is absent for up to ten years.

Why a three-dimensional biobased mesh outperforms flat netting on slopes

Secumat® Green works differently from other flat erosion nets. Its extruded three-dimensional structure creates an artificial root zone 12 mm deep (EN ISO 9863-1). Soil particles become physically embedded within the filament layer, and plant roots grow through the mat and anchor it to the slope. This mechanical integration is not possible with other plastic nets, and it makes the mat suitable for facing systems at angles up to 90°.
