Secutex^® Green is a biodegradable*, needle-punched nonwoven geotextile for separation, filtration and protection.
Needle-punched staple fibres from renewable raw materials separate soil layers and retain fines, then biodegrade* fully once vegetation and roots take over the filter function.
Geotextile robustness classes GRK 2 to GRK 5; widths 2 m, 4 m and 6 m.
Typically about 3 years service life, depending on soil, water and climate (biological activity at the site).
TÜV Austria: OK compost (Home & Industrial), OK biodegradable (Soil, Water, Marine); Seedling per EN 13432.

Secutex^® Green is a biodegradable*, mechanically bonded nonwoven geotextile for separation, filtration and protection. It is made from uniform staple fibres of renewable raw materials, needle-punched into a single-layer nonwoven. Installed between soil layers or beneath aggregate, it retains fine particles and keeps materials separated while remaining water-permeable. Once vegetation and roots take over the filter function, the geotextile biodegrades* fully.

Secutex^® Green is designed for temporary works and sensitive sites. It holds TÜV Austria certificates for OK compost (Home and Industrial) and OK biodegradable (Soil, Water and Marine), plus a Seedling certificate per EN 13432. After use, the nonwoven can remain on site and compost during renaturation, removing the need to separate natural materials from the geotextile and dispose of them.

Secutex^® Green is available in geotextile robustness classes GRK 2 to GRK 5 (Secutex^® Green 30G1 to 120G1) per the FGSV M Geok E leaflet, in widths of 2, 4 and 6 m. Mass per unit area ranges from 300 g/m² (30G1 GRK 2; O90 70 µm; CBR ≥ 1,000 N) to 1,200 g/m² (120G1 GRK 5; O90 45 µm; CBR ≥ 5,000 N). The fibres are UV-resistant, allowing uncovered installation. Expected service life is about three years, governed by the biological activity at the site.

Separation
Secutex^® Green keeps dissimilar soil layers or aggregate and subsoil apart, preventing intermixing and loss of bearing capacity in temporary roads and working areas.
Filtration
Secutex^® Green retains fine soil particles while remaining water-permeable, until vegetation and roots take over the filter function at end of service life.
Protection
Acts as a protective cushion layer for sensitive substrates and surfaces in landscaping and temporary works.

How certified biodegradation* and robustness classes work

Secutex^® Green is made entirely from renewable, organic raw materials and is processed by soil organisms, microorganisms and fungi at the end of its service life. Biodegradability* is certified by TÜV Austria under five separate schemes:

together with a Seedling certificate confirming conformity with EN 13432.

Industrially manufactured fibres and a constant needling process give the nonwoven reproducible quality, allowing assignment to a German geotextile robustness class (GRK) per FGSV leaflet M Geok E. Secutex^® Green covers GRK 2 to GRK 5, with each higher class denoting a higher minimum mass per unit area and static puncture resistance, matched to the mechanical demand of the application.

Service life depends on the biological activity of the surrounding soil, water and climate; as a rule of thumb, about three years. Secutex^® Green is thus a deliberately temporary geotextile: it separates and filters during the critical construction or establishment phase, after which vegetation and roots take over soil retention.
