Naue offers various types of geosynthetic barriers, e.g. geomembranes (Carbofol® and Carbofol® +) and GCLs (Bentofix®, Bentofix® X, Bentofix® + X and Bentofix® Green). They can either be used for landfills, dams, ponds, contaminated sites and earthworks, with approvals and conformity documentation.

Bentofix®
Naue Bentofix® is a geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) for waterproofing in landfill engineering, groundwater protection and hydraulic applications.
Bentofix® X
Naue Bentofix® X geosynthetic clay liner is a multicomponent PE-coated GCL for landfill, waterproofing and slope sealing.
Bentofix® + X
Naue Bentofix® + X is a Thermal Lock GCL with enhanced oxidative resistance for mining, landfill and hydraulic engineering.
Bentofix® Green
Naue Bentofix® Green is a biodegradable* geosynthetic clay liner for ecological waterproofing for ponds, embankments and nature reserves.
Carbofol®
Naue Carbofol® is a HDPE liner for landfill sealing, mining containment, and groundwater protection.
Carbofol® +
Naue Carbofol® + HDPE geomembrane is an enhanced oxidation-resistant liner for mining containment, landfill sealing and other critical barriers.
Geosynthetic barriers: frequently asked questions
An HDPE geomembrane is a continuous polymer sheet welded at every seam. A GCL (Geosynthetic Clay Liner) is a needle-punched bentonite mat that swells on hydration and seals by overlap – self-healing of small damage.
Carbofol® HDPE has a documented service life of more than 100 years according to BAM suitability assessment, provided correct installation with a high-strength protection nonwoven above the liner.
On complex geometries, where small damages should self-heal and where welding crews cannot be deployed easily – e.g. landfill capping, contaminated land closure and tunnel linings.
Yes. Bentofix® can be installed under controlled hydraulic conditions and will hydrate in place. Project-specific guidance is available from the Naue’s Engineering and Design Department (EDD).
Yes. All relevant Carbofol® and Bentofix® variants carry CE marking under CPR 305/2011 and conform to BS EN 13361 / 13491 / 13492 / 13493.
Hot-wedge welders for double-track seams and extrusion welders for repairs and details. Welder operators must hold current certification – Naue can supply or audit the welding crew.
Yes. Bentofix® X and Bentofix® + X provide high internal shear strength (Thermal Lock needle-punching) and are routinely used on landfill capping slopes up to 1V:2H and steeper, depending on cover material and friction interface.
For HDPE: vacuum box, air-channel and peel/shear testing per GRI-GM 19 / 21, with full panel and seam logs. For GCL: overlap and overlap-bentonite-supplement records per panel.
