Secudrain^® Drainage geocomposite

Secudrain^® is a drainage geocomposite for leachate collection, groundwater protection and building drainage. It consists of a wave-extruded PP monofilament drainage core bonded to one or two Secutex^® nonwoven filter layers. The core channels water in-plane. The nonwoven prevents clogging. It replaces conventional gravel drainage layers of 20 to 40 cm thickness.

Secudrain^® is a drainage geocomposite: it drains water in-plane through a structured core plus provides filtration via the nonwoven layer. Secutex^® is a nonwoven geotextile: it provides separation, filtration and protection but has no in-plane drainage function. Use Secudrain^® wherever lateral water movement is required.

Secudrain^® 131 C WD 401 131 C (6.5 mm, flow 1.0 l/m x s at 20 kPa) is standard for most landfill capping and groundwater protection applications. Secudrain^® 201 WD 601 201 (11.5 mm, flow 1.5 l/m x s at 20 kPa) is used where higher flow capacity or mass per unit area is required. Select based on hydraulic design and confining stress e.g. MTSE based solutions.

A thick geocomposite that compresses under load loses drainage capacity over time. Secudrain^® uses a wave-profile PP core that maintains at least 95 percent void ratio under 50 kPa confining stress. The flow capacity at 50 kPa remains 0.9 l/(m x s) for the WD 131 C grade. Pressure-creep curves allow accurate design without conservative safety factors. This is the key differentiator versus conventional mineral drainage.

10,000 m² of Secudrain^® replaces the extraction, transport and installation of approximately 3,000 m³ of granular drainage material. This reduces lorry movements, earthworks volume and site time. The EPD-verified CO₂-eq for the average Secudrain^® product is 2.20 kg CO₂-eq/m² (A1-A3, avg 819 g/m²). Naue holds ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 50001 Energy Management certifications.

Secudrain^® holds several labels, because durability is most important in the function of drainage, so it has CE marking, DIN 18200 internal and external monitoring, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, an EPD, IVG certificate (replaces site incoming inspection) and a 100-year durability declaration per EN 13249 Annex B. The RZ 331 grade additionally carries BAM approval required for German DepV landfill engineering.

Yes. Naue holds a product group EPD for Secudrain^® drainage elements. The EPD is a cradle-to-grave declaration prepared per EN 15804:2012+A2:2019. The declared unit is 1 m² at average 819 g/m².

Secudrain^® is made from 100 % high quality virgin polypropylene. PP resists naturally occurring soil chemicals, soil micro-organisms and UV radiation (within the one-month cover requirement). The thermally bonded nonwoven layers are calendered and welded to the core. This bond withstands installation loads including foot traffic and panel overlapping. Rolls must be covered within one month of installation.

Standard roll dimensions: 1,90 m or 3,8 m width. Rolls also available up to 70 m length and up to 6 m width for special projects.

Secudrain^® is tested to: DIN EN ISO 9863-1 (thickness), DIN EN ISO 9864 (mass per unit area), DIN EN ISO 12956 (characteristic opening size), DIN EN ISO 12958 (flow capacity), DIN EN ISO 10319 (tensile strength, RZ grade), DIN EN ISO 12236 (static puncture, RZ grade). CE marked per EN 13249ff:2016. German landfill use requires compliance with DepV and BAM documentation (RZ grade).

Yes, for regulated German landfill engineering, use Secudrain^® RZ 331 WDZ 701 RZ 201 which carries BAM approval (08/BAM) required under DepV. For non-regulated capping systems in Germany and internationally, the WD series (131 C or 201 grade) can replace granular drainage. Select based on required flow capacity and hydraulic gradient. Provide pressure-creep curve data for design verification.

Secudrain^® WAS 7 is a drainage geocomposite approved per German Richtzeichnung WAS 7 for drainage of earth-contact structural elements. It is tested in h/w (wall/vertical) orientation: flow capacity 0.8 l/(m x s) at 20 kPa. Roll width 1.90 m enables vertical installation on wall and abutment faces. Approved per RiZ-ING (ZTV E) for bridge structures (e.g. B51 Wolbecker Road junction bridge, Münster). IVG certificate can replace site incoming inspection.
