A sand container is a geotextile unit filled with locally won sand. Naue Secutex® Soft Rock units are sized to the design wave or current load and form revetments, scour aprons, groynes and bank protection.
Unit size is calculated from the design hydraulic load – wave height, current velocity or ice load – using the Naue SoftRock design tool (NauePortal), BAW MAK and EAK / EAU recommendations.
Soft Rock sand containers are designed for service lives of 50 years and longer, depending on UV exposure, abrasion and surcharge. Naue’s Engineering & Design Department (EDD) provides project-specific durability assessments.
Yes. Naue Soft Rock sand containers are vegetation-friendly and integrate with dune, mudflat and tropical-coast habitats. Vegetated cover further protects the geotextile against UV exposure.
Empty units are placed on a former, filled by hopper or pump with locally won sand to the design fill ratio, then sewn or zipped closed. Naue supplies the filling and closing parameters.
Yes. Pre-fabricated units enable emergency closures, levee reinforcement and scour protection within days – an advantage that is well documented from flood events in Europe and Asia.
