Slowing the melt of snow and ice on open glaciers, in summer snow depots and around ski lift infrastructure is where Naue supplies the solution. Naue GlacierProtect, a highly reflective, certified biodegradable nonwoven, reduces ablation to help preserve water resources, alpine ecology and infrastructure, and adds slip-resistant safety at lift entry and exit points.

Covering of snow, ice and glacier surfaces with certified biodegradable nonwoven textiles to slow melt driven by global warming. Support for protection of water resources, alpine ecology and the stability of infrastructure like cable car supports founded in ice.

Storing surplus snow from the previous winter in compact depots and conserving it through the summer months. Depot covers to slow melting, helping resorts plan early-season opening dates and reduce reliance on weather-dependent snowmaking.

Protection for ski lift and cable-car installations in alpine and glacier terrain founded in ice and exposed to solar radiation and heavy foot traffic. Reducing ice melt, helps secure your foundations.

GlacierProtect is a highly reflective geotextile nonwoven specifically engineered to slow the melting of snow and ice. Its high reflectivity reduces the amount of solar energy absorbed by the covered surface, cutting ablation on glaciers and in snow depots.
Field applications show that covering ice and snow with a reflective nonwoven significantly reduces summer ablation compared with uncovered surfaces. The exact benefit depends on site conditions, exposure and coverage; the Naue team can provide project-specific guidance.
Snow farming is the practice of storing surplus snow from the previous winter in compact depots and conserving it through the summer under an insulating, reflective cover, so that it is available to build the base layer for the following season.
GlacierProtect is certified biodegradable and compostable by TÜV Austria (EN 13432) and engineered specifically for snow and ice cover applications. Project-specific environmental and performance documentation is available from the Naue team.
The reflective cover slows the melt of ice around lift foundations, helping preserve their stability.
