Secumat^® Green Jute N Jute erosion control mat

Secumat^® Green Jute N is a biodegradable* jute erosion control net for temporary slope protection and revegetation support. It is manufactured as a woven net of double jute twine in warp and weft. You install it directly on bare soil. The net absorbs raindrop impact, reduces surface runoff and holds moisture as an active water reservoir. Plants establish within 12 months. The net then degrades* completely into the soil – no removal, no disposal.

Jute N degrades* within 12 months, ideal for short revegetation cycles. Coco N lasts up to 36 months (N 900 variant), suits steeper slopes (>35°) and longer cycles. Jute absorbs moisture more effectively in dry conditions due to its higher hygroscopic capacity. Coco N handles steeper gradients. Both are made from 100% natural plant fibre - jute and coir respectively - and biodegrade* in the soil; both require no soil cover. The Coco N 400 has a shadowing ratio of approx. 40%, vs. 50% for Jute N.

Use Secumat^® Green Jute N for slopes up to 10° with a 12-month revegetation target. Use Coco M for steeper slopes (up to 40°) or where a 36-month protection period is needed. Coco M has a closed fibre mat structure, better for higher erosion risk. Jute N is lighter and faster to install.

Shadowing ratio determines how much light reaches germinating seeds through the net. At 50%, Secumat^® Green Jute N protects against raindrop erosion while transmitting enough light for rapid plant establishment. Too high a ratio limits vegetation. Too low offers weak protection. Tensile strength alone does not capture this balance. By comparison, Coco N 400 achieves approx. 40% shadowing ratio – lower surface coverage, suitable for projects where light penetration is prioritised.

Secumat^® Green Jute N is manufactured under continuous factory production control. Documentation is available with each delivery.

Secumat^® Green Jute N is easy to handle and install. The net is delivered in 10-panel bales (610 m² per bale). Secure it with Secumat^® Green PinW 30 wooden pins. No specialist equipment is required. Installation on slopes up to 10° is straightforward with standard site labour.

Secumat^® Green Jute N 500 20x30 is supplied in rolls of 1.22 m width x 50 m length. Each roll weighs 30.5 kg. Bales contain 10 panels, covering 610 m².

Secumat^® Green Jute N is tested to: EN ISO 10319 (tensile strength), EN ISO 9864 (mass per unit area), LB 2021-05-27-002 (shadowing ratio, NAUE internal test standard). Specify proof of equivalency using these parameters per the Naue specification text.
