What are pressure water sealing systems (DWA)?
Pressure water sealing (DWA) is a specialized system used in tunnels to provide protection against pressing water. These seals consist of a 3 mm thick Carbofol® tunnel membrane, offering comprehensive all-around sealing. Additionally, the construction joints are secured with six-ribbed Carbofol® joint tapes to prevent water circulation in the event of damage. This system is particularly important in areas with aggressive groundwater (exposure class XA3).
Why is sealing crucial?
An effective pressure water sealing system is essential to ensure the structural integrity and longevity of tunnels. Pressing water can cause significant damage if it penetrates the tunnel structure. A reliable sealing system prevents water ingress, protecting the structure from corrosion and other water-related damage. This not only ensures the safety of tunnel users but also minimizes long-term maintenance and repair costs.
