The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) changed its guidelines for consistency of runway side-strips on airports.
The “Aerodrome Design Manual (9157 Part 1) Third Edition” of 2006 demands that if the nose gear of an airplane deviates from the runway it may not sink more than 15cm. This is to avoid heavy damage to the airplane.
