Secugrid® and Combigrid® geogrids are also used as reinforcement elements in base course layers of roads or infrastucture designs over weak subsoils.

The firmly welded and robust reinforcing bars of the geogrid structure ensure an immediate interlock effect and an high horizontal force transfer increasing the bearing capacity of the soil. For the calculation in this application NAUE has generated a "Top Tool Calculation Disk". By integrating Secugrid® or Conbigrid® geogrids into the bearing layer the total thickness of the design can be reduced, thus creating a cost saving potential.
