Groundwater Protection Tank impoundments, petrol stations or chemical storage depots are examples of where geosynthetic secondary containment measures are taken to protect the groundwater from inadvertent releases and potential contamination. The groundwater should also be protected with geosynthetic barriers when constructing or renovating industrial locations, where hazardous or harmful materials are stored and handled. As the protection of our aquifers is important, Geosynthetics barriers or seals may be appropriate when constructing roads in water catchment areas. The sealing systems can be installed in single or double layer systems depending upon the engineering needs, regulatory requirements, or the factor of safety that is desired. Geosynthetic containment systems offer long-term containment, chemical resistance, are environmentally compatible and easy to install. By employing complete geosynthetic solutions from NAUE, groundwater resources can be preserved long into the future. For groundwater protection, Carbofol® and Carbofix® geomembranes, and Bentofix® Geosynthetic Clay Liners are used for creating hydraulic seals. Secutex® nonwovens are used for filtration, separation and protection. Secudrain® is used for drainage and Secugrid® geogrids are used for reinforcement while Secumat® is used for erosion control.
